Career day at Olympus High School
by DJ Cam Reeve
As a DJ in the industry, I take pride in having numerous connections in the business. One of these valuable connections is my friend Mark, who operates @SwissmixAudio. Mark and I initially crossed paths online through a Facebook group known as the 'DJs of Utah Network.'
Over the past five years, including the challenging period of the pandemic, our shared interests and professional goals have drawn us closer. We've increasingly found ourselves collaborating on various projects as time has passed. One noteworthy instance arose during a discussion about potential business ventures. Mark mentioned that a local middle school administrator had approached him, inquiring whether he would be willing to showcase his talents at a career day event. Mark also suggested the idea of me joining him in this endeavor. After a brief conversation, we both enthusiastically agreed to participate.
I must say i thoroughly enjoyable this experience! It was an absolute blast! Mark and I had to get up super early 5am to make it on time, because the snow was just coming down. However the day was very rewarding. During the event, I had the opportunity to deliver a 5-10 minute performance on DJing, while Mark spoke into the topic of sound. We shared our personal journeys and emphasized the significance of networking within our respective fields. Our discussions revolved around the importance of mastering one's craft and how it can pave the way to a fulfilling career doing what you love. The first busses were late so I even had the opportunity to DJ a set while the students waited for the bus.
If you are hosting a career day and are interested in a presenter or looking for some DJ or Sound Lessons don't hesitate to reach out to me or Mark.
